WOW, seems like a great forum here! Well, after following the postings for a month or so I guess I will join in all the fun, so here goes. I am another TX (Crowley, TX) boy on the forum and I can only say that I feel sorry for all up north who have received snow in the last month, and have been waiting on the lakes to MELT???...!!!! Just does not seem possible to a guy that has lived in TX all of his life.

I have been boating most all of my life (young, 32 years), the first boat we've owned was a 2002 Glastron 195 SX, 4.3GL Volvo ...it was a great starter boat. Poor thing fell victim to many moments of "OOPS...xxxx it, be more careful!" Always fun to give yourself a lecture from time to time. Anyways, after six great seasons, the Glastron was reaching the point of no return. We were either gonna need to invest some money to redo the interior/fit finsh or think about trading. Lucky for me :D, my wife and I agreed that we were still dedicated to boating / camping and that trading up to a new / nicer boat was good idea.

I started shopping around, and came upon the Four Winns SS Series boat....lets just say that my search was short lived after that!! I contacted my local Four Winns dealer, about an hour away, got what I felt was a good price and the rest was history. All I had to do at this point was to decide which SS was the right one for me.... The 200 SS did not offer the stereo upgrade (not a deal breaker) or a front boarding ladder (DEAL BREAKER), 80% of the places that I boat there is no dock..... :x The 220 SS was larger and had awesome storage, and I thought I would like the medditeranian seating, but it turned out to be uncomfortable to me and the wife didn't like it much (not a deal breaker), but with the U-shaped seating the driver's seat was VERY cramped, in my opinion for a 22ft. boat (DEAL BREAKER!!!) I am 6'2" and get most of the enjoyment from my boat driving/towing others around the lake all day and there was just not enough room to stretch my legs in the 220 SS. That brought us back to the 210 SS which seemed to be a perfect fit for my family... 2 1/2 ft. longer than the old boat, a lot wider, front boarding ladder, stereo uprade, swim platform mat, dual table set up (regular location + a short pole to use the table on the swim platform), corsa exhaust, and the 5.7 Gi Volvo......oh yea, and did I mention that I really liked the RED !!!!!!! Although all of the SS colors were VERY eye catching.

Anyways, bought the boat on Sat. April the 5th., and have managed about 12.5 hours already.. :D ... man, I love TX. I really thought my previous Glaston performed very well on the water, but this FW 210 SS is on a whole other plateau !!!!

Sorry for rambling...this is the 1st forum entry of anykind on any forum for me, so...I guess talking about boating just makes me extra goofy?? I hope to meet up with some of the locals this summer, although I have never gone to Lake Lewisville, it is just on the news way to much for someone doing something really stupid....seems like there are a lot of people over there with way more money than brain cells... (ex. see post with the Hummer / Fountain boat pics !!! )

The short and long of it is thanks for all the tips you guys have given without ever knowing on this forum, and I look foward to getting to know you all..... :D

No, the pic is beautiful! Don't hurt it! I just love the warmth that radiates from a late afternoon pic. Really flattering on such a sweet rig. Your thoughts echo exactly what I was thinking (that and the 220 was a little more than I could justify for 3 months a year of boating )
I quite like TX also - and have freqented Houston but alas I was destined to reside in the ice belt. Sigh.
Yes, a good self lecture never hurt anyone - just be careful you don't start to argue back !

Welcome to the forum...great group of ppl here.

Love the red...I'd be sporting a red 220 but it was sold the day before I was "seriously" shopping. In my opinion there isn't a bad color on the SS's though.

The 210 is a great boat...the main reason I went with the 220 is the middle walk through between the mediterranean seating. I have a yellow lab that comes to the lake with me alot and I figured that would be easier on him...and easier on the vinyl. Where do you boat at mostly??

Thanks for the welcome.... I mainly boat @ Lake Whitney....lots of space, wind blocks (cliffs), deep water, and not filled with boats... although if I am pressed for time I run over to Lake Granbury or Lake Benbrook.

First post and a Picture, I think some sort of award is in order.

Great looking boat, the red looks great on the black trailer.

Paul, just out of curiosity - have you considered painting it flat black? With that low windshield it might look cool.

I am on it right now....
