Hey everybody!
Our marina guy pointed out to us that we are sitting low in the water in the back. We have been checking things the past few times we have been down. No water is getting in the boat as far as we know. In fact, when the guys take the boat out and take the plug out there is always some water but a never an excessive amount. Now I'm not sure if the boat was like this when we got it. Of course, Now I'm noticing things in the cabin aren't Level but maybe it's because I know now. I'd say we are about 4-5inches deeper than our bottom paint....actually below our striping. Anybody else have this problem or any ideas?

Well, give more detail. Weight can make boats move all over the place. Are you placing 6 healthy adults at the back of the boat, full gas tank, water tanks full, 6 house batteries, etc? Think of boats like a seesaw. They have to be balanced, otherwise if you put too much weight in one place they will fall to that side.

Twins? Genset? Take a look at ads for 288's online and see how they sit in the water compared to yours is a good place to start.

The manual should also show your water line for bottom paint. Sounds like weight distribution to me if you are not full of water in your bilge.

Ok here's more details. Two skinny chicks, gas tanks about half full ( since that's about all we can afford these days), about 70 lbs on the swim platform with the dinghy and davit system, water tank about half full. We've got twin volvo's and a generator. Planning on looking at some pics of when we first got the boat when I get home. However, the marina guy pointed it out when they were about to take the boat out. We had just pumed out, no one was on the boat, and the dinghy was not on.

After they pull the boat out watch for water spots on the ground a couple of days later to see if you have a crack or small hole in the bottom of the boat. Seems to me that sitting five inches lower than normal would take a lot of weight to displace that much water. IMO. Or who ever bottom painted missed the waterline and you have never noticed.

The bottom stripe on a 288 always goes under the water in the rear, if there is no water in the bilge then it does not sound like you have problem. Not sure where the water tank is on a 288 but on my 318 when my water tank is empty (tank under foward birth) it sits lower in the back

My 288 stripe in the rear was underwater untill i put new stripes on. I raised it about 2 inches to get it just above. My water tank is amidships just forward of the engines. Mine will get a little water in the bilge, but i think it comes from rainwater running back.

Partycove, I see you are already in. Hows the new bellows working out ? I have a stand you could have used for your outdrive removal.
