Post subject:  Cover for docked boats?
Who out there makes a mooring cover for docked boats? Not the standard cover that requires straps around the boat. My snap in covers have seen better days, and they still don't cover much or keep water out, they just keep the vinyl seats from fading.

My buddies ski boat came with a cover that has a rope around the edge that tightens it around the lip with a hook. It goes on in 30 seconds and has slits for the cleats. No straps under the boat or coke bottles with water in them. I want something like that. Neat, clean, simple, and works.

I have what you describe as the Factory FW trailering cover, but I have tried and it is a PITA on the dock, or when beached. I use the snap on mooring covers, as they are easy to get on/off when tied and they seem to work well for the few days/week per year its in the water. I do water-treat all covers once per year with some cheap stuff I bye at Walmart.

Problem is, my boat is in the water for months at a time and not in covered storage. If 5 minutes extra to cover it saved me from sitting there with the high speed buffer every 3-4 months for 2 days to get the gloss back to the top... it's worth it.

If you have your own slip, look up Touchless Boat covers. I have seen a few. I'm sure pricy, but look very convenient. I would recommend up-sizing to the size boat you plan on buying next.

it's waterproof, there's a small rope all along the perimeter you strech it and the cover it's tightened around the boat, the small rope after stretching is fixed beside the swimming platform

What he showed me.. a waterproof cover with a slip rope that tightens the base making it impossible to come off with holes for the dock lines. I know they make them, I've seen them, just dunno where to buy

When you search...search specifically for mooring covers. The Four Winns ones a pricey, but they are perfect. A canvas shop could make one, but check eBay and a few online stores like West Marine etc...they are out there.

When I bought this boat the original cockpit and bow covers were long gone, I had a new set made by a local guy and I treat it with 303 water proofing spray. The boat sits on a mooring all season. There is rarely any water in the boat even when it rains. I think if you had the seams re-sewn and waterpoofed it well, you'd see an improvement. Any of the covers that go down to the rubrail, is going to be a pain to use for a moored boat. I have a custom canvas cover for the winter, and I had to build a frame to keep it from caving in under snow loads.

Go to iboats.com and look up Westlannd boat covers. I have one and does exactly what you are looking for.

I just had all my snap in covers repaired, resewn, etc for FREE! I guess I won't need a cover

If you want it done right, you need to go to a canvas shop & have it made. I had it on my Crownline cuddie, it was great. The problem is, with most boats, not all, since there basically hand made with little real automation like in cars. The snaps could be off a 1/8 to 1/4" in any direction. You could go & see if FW offers one, but for it to fit "like a glove". I am sure you will need to have it made up. Remember too, you can always add more snaps were needed.
