What prop are you running on your 5.0 SS?

Do you still have the stock aluminum 14.5" 19p that came on it?

I just put a stainless on, however I think I am going to upgrade to a better model. Right now I have the Michigan Wheel Apollo and it is OK, but I think I am getting some slippage. It is a 19p 3-blade with a 14 1/8" diameter.

I am thinking about swapping it out for a PowerTech RAS 19p 3-blade that is 14 1/4" diameter. It is supposed to be a better blade.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

I am running a Stainless Volvo 14 3/4 inch diameter by 19 pitch and I am turning 5000 rpm at about 56 miles an hour, I may try a 15 by 19 to see if I can get a little more top end, boat is awesome out of the hole about a 3.5 second plane out, I may just stick to this prop.

Mike, you numbers all line up, however the descriptions are a bit off. The pitch is 19 and the diameter is the 14 3/4 or 15 that you listed. A 19 p prop will move forward 19" in a single revolution (imagine the prop in a pool of jello, and you rotate it). Therefor, if you wish to have greater top end speed you'd have to venture up to a 21 p prop. At any rate, your comments have me thinking that the diameter of my prop is a bit small at 14 & 1/8, hence the reduced surface area and slippage I sense...

After reading my subject, perhaps I should have included all H200 and 210 owners given that the SS package is basically an appearance group.

Anyone pushing a 21p 3 blade with their 5.0?

What about 4 blades? Who has a H200 or 210 with the 5.0 that is running a 4 blade?

Curious where you got the info that it is "supposed" to be a better blade. Sounds like sales hype. What is the alledged blade improvement, is it in the Rake, Skew, DAR, blade thickness, pitch line ? Also, you say you "think" you are getting slipage. Do you mean cavitation? Ventilation ? Prop hub slippage ? Please explain.

You touched on several items - larger diameter, cupping, rake, and blade thickness are among the supposed improvements in this other prop I am considering. Admittedly, the Michigan Wheel Apollo is a lower-end prop. The blades are thin by comparison (that is when compared to the RAS unit) and the diameter of this prop is a bit smaller than the aluminum that was on the boat as delivered.

I *think* I am getting some slippage due to the reduced top-end speed as registered by the in-dash speedo (yeah, I know it isn't accurate, but as a basic instrument, it does give a high water mark at the very least).

Also I do think that the reduced surface area by virtue of the reduced diameter has an impact on the prop's overall performance and efficiently. Slippage is not exclusively indicated by cavitation. Slippage can be thought of as the props "traction" in the water. Is this not a valid assumption? My vendor is willing to let me try various props, so why not? I am just wanting to hear about what other boaters are using so I can make an informed decision.

As long as you can test props for free, go for it. You will find you get a variation of only a couple of hundred RPM's and 3 or 4 mph at maximum with this exercise. Expensive for such a small improvement IMO.

That is your best bet. Let Four Winns do the leg work, they have the money to try out what ever they want.

Try the stock 14 3/4 by 19p I think you will really like the performance and handleing, sorry for the backward description, I race RC boats and our props are decsribed differently, by the number only.
