My VDO OEM depth gauge sometimes goes into alarm mode when there is plenty of water above the alarm depth. Has anyone else experienced this? If yes, what was the solution, and what may be the cause?

Thanks!

You might try cleaning/replacing the terminals/connections on both the gauge and sending unit.
I use a Garmin GPS/chart plotter for depth, it is very reliable and reads depth consistenly well. Transom mount transducer.
