I have one more question for everyone. thank you for any help you can provide. When i loading my H180 back on to the trailer for the first time the boat was touching the roller but when i pulled it out of the water it ended up being a couple inches from the roller. I dropped it back into the water and tried again and this time it was about 1 inch from the roller when i pulled it out. Does this happen to anyone else? what am i doing wrong? The boat is on my trailer at home still not touching the roller.

I assume you're talking about the bow roller? Did you connect the winch strap and crank it up tight? A bit more info please.

If you aren't even touching the bow roller, your transom is likely hanging off the bunks at the rear, which isn't good. Nothing to panic about as long as you're going to use the boat again soon, but you don't want it sitting like that for too long.

Yes I was referring to the bow roller. It was sitting on it before i completly pulled it out of the water but once i was at the top of the ramp it was an inch away from the roller. Could the stap be streching with the tension?

That's strange. I suppose a new strap could stretch slightly, but I wouldn't think that much. When you winch it up in the water, how tight are you getting it? It should be very tight.

Ya it was tight. I am also thinking that maybe because the strap is new that it is stretching. I will take it out another time before I get concerned. thank you for your help Mike

Crank the CRAP out of it. The coil of strap on the winch is not seated all the way yet. The strap will not flex, just the coil.

Could it be that perhaps your winch strap is not wound on the winch tight? If you are pulling the boat onto the trailer almost all the way and only winching it the last couple inches maybe that your strap is just wrapped loose on the reel so when you pull the boat out and up hill it is pulling the slack out of the reel and the boat slides backward a bit. Maybe try the trailer not so far in and winching it in from a little further away so the strain will pull the slack out of the reel as you load

Getting the bunks wet before loading will help reduce friction and make cranking the boat on easier.

Has anyone thought about spraying the carpeted bunks with a silicone spray to make the loading/launching process easier? If the boat sat for any length of time on a silicone impregnated carpeted bunk would this have any negative affect on the gelcoated surface of the boat?

It won't hurt the hull, but it's not good for the water it eventually gets dunked in. Better to use Pam or some kind of vegetable based oil.

Mike could see me coming from afar to yell STOP PUTTING SILICONE IN OUR WATERWAYS PLEASE. This is one of my pet peeves. I hate it when people spray their bunks with silicone and then go dunk them in the water.

I just get a paint brush and coat the hull with used motor oil... It's cheap, and makes the boat go faster!
