Post subject:  depth gauge in 06 220-H
I am having a difficult time setting my depth gauge that my 220-H came with. Does anyone have easier way of setting the gauge propery. The stupid thing keeps beeping at me and the instructions suck at explaining how to set the thing.

The transducers on these are very sensitive and all it takes is a bubble trapped under them to throw them off. One thing people should do is get under there and carefully trim off any excess 5200 that squeezed out when they installed it. There was quite a bit on mine. I've had a lot less trouble with 3' readings in the center of a known 200' deep lake since I trimmed that off. As to the instructions, yeah, they suck.

Mike, those could be really tall trees!! :shock:

Also, I've found on both this boat and others I've had that a little lubricant in the water will foul that thing pretty quickly. Sometimes a little spill at the marina can do that. I make it a habit to wipe that thing off after a weekend where I slipped the boat overnight. If you trailer it often enough, I'd recommend that practice.

So you wipe the hull off where the thur-hull transducer is transmitting thur the hull. That has got to be one nasty marina to defuse your transducer with a coat of oil.

Most of these transducers are mounted in the hull, as in the surface of it is exposed directly to the water. They're sealed to the hull with 5200, which is where my comment came from on trimming off the excess. I've also done what Paul suggested, which is an excellent idea.

Not my local marina, but I've had it happen to my other 2 boats over the years at Lake of the Ozarks, which is pretty well known for having pretty nasty water.

Also happened at a local lake here in KC once when they had a guy spewing gear lube when he pulled up to marina. We were the lucky folks who followed him in. Luckily, that was on my little aluminum fishing boat so there was no stress over it.
