I ordered a new prop, prop tool and grease. I'll get the old one fixed and keep it as a spare.

It's a good point about checking the shafts; about 10 years ago my outdrive/ props got tangled up at speed on a lobster pot buoy rope, unfortunately the rope was attached to the pot with a steel hawser which is what eventually contacted the outdrive/ props.. It was just before dusk, the "buoy" was an old plastic milk carton covered in weed . It messed up both props big time, broke the skeg off and screwed up the shafts run out. It was actually the bigger diameter, hollow shaft onto which the front prop fits that bent. Thankfully, insurance covered the cost ( but the rest of that boating season was written off)

Sorry about your prop hope you get it fixed quickly and you can get back out on the water soon. Here is what I think about removing those props!!!

Make sure you have a rubber mallet to tap them out when you get the screws out. My props came out pretty easily after I figured out how to take those two big screws out, just make sure you tap them lightly at the base not the blades.

I am guessing the tool works for the screw for the front prop (inner prop)?

Those are SS props? I guess they are the same ones i have on my boat.
Thats the only thing that scares me on my boat.

I was told that these are really bard to bent and likely the outdrive will take most of the damage before you bent one of these. These are words from a dealer who I bought it from and Ive allways been paranoid about it knowing the new Outdrive is close to 10 000$.

Stainless props are still designed to fail before the outdrive, the hub should slip, as well as the blades will still bend.

I wouldn't put too much stock into the dealer you purchased from, they have a very poor attitude with there up front saying "you play you pay$$$$$$" I will never let them touch any boat I own ever again!!!!

I have also earned the prob bender award. I hit a gravel bar next to the boat ramp after a long day on Lake Tahoe. The front prop was fixed at a local shop to perfection. I was also interested in a set of spare props to take when we go to Lake Powell. The prop shop had a used set of F3s that had been exchanged for a set with a different pitch. They were in perfect condition and cost only $950 for both props. So you can also ask at a repair shop if they know of a used set that are in new condition. I saved a bundle.

Man it may just be me but the dual prop sure seems like an overpriced option....yeah yeah I get it...counter blablabla...more blade surface bla...equals more responsive and less steering torque.

10k for a drive and double prop cost for each prop is nuts

DP drives generally get 1-2 GPH better then SX drives so if you boat a lot it's actually saving you $$. The drives are not 10k, you can get them used all day long for 2k (and much less). I've found complete motors with DP drive and props for under 3. The used marine parts market is inflated, but once and a while you find a realist. SX drives have finally hit that point, they're all over craigslist for a couple hundred.

Tell me about it. Measure twice cut once? HA. Measure 50 times, check marks 20 times, have a drink and smoke to contemplate what I'm about to do, then take on task. I backed mine with a 6"x6" 1/4in thick sheet of aluminum, used 5200, and stainless hardware. You could hang off it.
