With Roger Penske being a major shareholder in Mastercraft Boats, since the move in Mid 2007, he may just have some influence on this new direction for the builder. The new boat debuts at the Miami show tomorrow. A few pics from Boattest.

MasterCraft 300. Notice the bow thruster and anchor placement.

Something tells me that boat will NOT be fuel efficient at all.

Although I believe Mastercraft is a FANTASTIC boat -- I also them consider more like a Cobalt -- you pay ALOT for not that much more.

I'm eager to see pictures and get an idea of the finish work.

MSRP of under 300 will most likely be for the base price. Add in options and WHAMO - you'll be up alot more.

wonder how many will roll off the line with the rumors of Mastercraft being the first of the "big ones" filing 11. Sure that a thruster??? I dont understand the thought behind putting a thruster on a 30 footer with twins.

For the same reason Mastercraft is going to be one of the first big ones to file 11.

They do it because they "can". Not because it needs it.

Kind of like some of the crazy guage packages and stereos on new Mastercrafts. WAY overbuilt for any sort of functional utility.

Sure it looks cool - and you can say your boat has something that most don't... but then - you paid way more than most too.

Besides, I think Malibu is a better wakeboarding product... (just my .02)

The yanmar ZF drives have joystick control. It controls all 3 stationary props on the boat. It is an option, that provides some of the versatility of a pod drive, without the weight, expense, and large size of the pod drives.

Some other shots of the boat...

Brett- how does this layout tickle ya?

Interesting arch and hardtop? Note - the hard top with tinted glass is optional (probably above the 300k MSRP!)

At least the berth is correct and you can get rocked to sleep.

Yep, that's what the Boattest article stated. With the 6.0L engines, hardtop and other options, I agree it will be well north of $300K.

Not a boat I would want for myself, but it is still refreshing to see some builders with some new and fresh ideas. Especially now with the downturn in the boating industry.

Ya know... When I looked at that photo I said to myself "wonder how long till Cougar asks me if I like this layout" :)

It's "interesting" for sure... But not in a Four Winns 408 Sort of way....

Our VP of sales is at the Miami show today. I asked him to take some pictures for me, hopefully he will have time. Our company does have some vested interest in this boat, so I hope he feels the pictures are "work related" and takes a few. If I get them, I will post them.

A few pics on the initial launch for now.

Well, the pictues he took were on his cell phone, they are nothing special. So for what it's worth........ the boat at the show had 5 TV's on it, brightwork was African wood, camera mounted in the top so you can see on the display what is behind you when backing into your slip. Boat at the show was loaded, and priced at $430K.

By the way, they did sell two of them in Miami. So some work for us in the near future, which is a good thing.
